On June 29, 2023, punctually at 3:00 p.m., District Administrator Martin Stichnoth will pull out his scissors to cut the ribbon. Interested parties are welcome to attend. After the official act, there will be an opportunity to visit the inside of the building. Guided tours of the building will be offered until around 4:30 pm.
The requirements of accessibility and fire protection are the focus of the externally visible building changes. For example, an extension with an elevator and an additional second structural escape route in the form of a staircase was built on the street side to realize accessibility.
The color scheme of the facade is based on that of the main administration building in Haldensleben Bornsche Straße 2. "This gives it a certain recognition value," says District Administrator Martin Stichnoth. A functional area was built in front of the building for the reception of visitors to the Office for Social Affairs and Integration.
Originally, around 2.2 million euros had been budgeted for this measure in the district budget. However, the complex refurbishment of the building was not yet part of the approval planning. As implementation planning progressed, it was decided to bring the infrastructure of the administration building up to the latest standards and to improve the energy efficiency of the roof in the course of renewing the waterproofing.
Due to a change in the requirements for the future use of the building, an additional building was erected as a modular structure. The scope of the construction measure was ultimately at the level of a core renovation. Due to a contaminant load in the floor area, which was only verified during the course of construction, not only did the refurbishment costs climb to around 3.6 million euros. Completion was also delayed by around one year.
