Pupil BAföG
Pupils who can prove a corresponding need (insufficient income or assets) receive support from the start of their education, but not for periods prior to application, which is granted as a non-repayable grant.
Student BAföG
The aim of the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) is to give every young person the opportunity to complete a school or university education that matches their abilities and interests, regardless of their social and economic situation. Students with proven need (insufficient own or parental income, no assets ), receive support in the form of a grant (50%) and an interest-free loan (50%) from the beginning of the education, at the earliest at the time of application.
