Prof Dr Mathias Tullner, once a founding member of the Immermann Society himself, university lecturer in regional history, professor of Saxony-Anhalt regional history and retired in 2009, will join museum director Judith Vater in presenting the biographies of Immermann and Behrend and discussing their lives and possible crossroads. Of course, the town of Neuhaldensleben, its surroundings and probably mutual acquaintances will be a particular point of reference. Even though Peter Wilhelm Behrends was 23 years older than Carl Leberecht Immermann, both spent parts of their childhood - and especially their youth - here in Neuhaldensleben.
Prof. Dr. Tullner will focus on the emergence of historical societies and associations; the professionalisation and development of history as a science; history in literature, poetry and theatre around 1800 and the development of local historical chronicles. Together with the participants, we will explore the questions of whether a theatre is even conceivable without the representation of historical themes or whether every historical representation or treatise is not at the same time theatre.
This light, in-depth chat, kissed by the muse, is open to anyone interested; contributions to the discussion or musical interludes are welcome; refreshments will be provided and participation in the event is free of charge and without registration.
