On the "Shift Change" action day, people without disabilities have the opportunity to gain an insight into the workshops and workplaces of people with disabilities. At the same time, employees from workshops have the opportunity to work in administration and familiarise themselves with new work processes.
The district of Börde took part for the second time this year. This year, 14 employees from the workshops for disabled people at Lebenshilfe Ostfalen, Bodelschwingh Haus Wolmirstedt and Matthias Claudius Haus Oschersleben took the opportunity to swap jobs. The participants were employed at Haldensleben grammar school, Haldensleben vocational school, Hundisburg brickworks and various administrative offices in the Börde district of Oschersleben and Haldensleben. Thirteen people from the administration took part and were given an insight into the workshops for disabled people in Hundisburg, Oschersleben and Wolmirstedt on the day of action.
The employees from the workshops were motivated to try out their own skills and abilities, exchanged ideas with their colleagues from the district administration about their work tasks and actively supported them on the day.
The colleagues from the district reported on their work on site. They were amazed to learn that the workshops are places of economic innovation and creativity, where a wide range of high-quality services and products are created. The work to be performed there is customised to the individual employee and their abilities.
The response to the Shift Change Action Day was extremely positive on both sides and the mutual exchange was enriching for everyone involved.
The next "Shift Change" campaign day will take place on 25 September 2025.
