Over the past 18 months, the district administration, and in particular climate protection manager Theresa Köhler, has been working on the climate protection concept. The concept provides information on the current status quo by means of an energy and greenhouse gas balance and looks at possible future scenarios and potential. The centerpiece is the catalog of measures with 29 measures in various fields of action such as mobility, energy or environmental protection. The focus here is on the district administration's climate activities.
"The district administration is striving to play a pioneering role in climate protection. With the integrated climate protection concept, we are taking responsibility and have therefore set ourselves ambitious goals. Although the concept initially focuses on the district's own responsibilities, everyone is called upon to follow suit," says District Administrator Martin Stichnoth, summarizing the importance of the climate protection concept.
Over the next three years, the measures will be implemented step by step in a follow-up project and a variety of networks will be established. The prioritized measures include, for example, the further development of energy management in the administration, the creation of a cycling concept and the rewetting of the Großer Bruch.
The climate protection concept will be made publicly available on the website www.landkreis-boerde.de in future. Interested parties can then read more about the development process and the individual measures. In addition, information campaigns and events for citizens will transparently highlight climate protection issues.
