Ceremonial inauguration of the "Gemeinschaftsschule Am Diesterwegring" after extensive construction measures

On 07 October, District Administrator Martin Stichnoth officially handed over and inaugurated the community school Am Diesterwegring in Oschersleben.

The former secondary school is part of a school complex consisting of an elementary school and an after-school care center. As part of the construction measures, the existing building was extensively renovated and brought up to the latest technical and energy standards. In addition, an ultra-modern new extension was built, which offers both students and teachers a wide range of possible uses. The community school is now completely barrier-free thanks to the installation of an elevator.

On 2750 m² net floor space over two or three floors, 12 general classrooms and 6 specialized classrooms for the subjects of biology, chemistry, physics, technology, music, art and home economics were created. Additional function rooms, two learning islands, an auditorium and new outdoor facilities with seating and a streetball court round off the facilities for the students. The technical equipment in the new replacement building also meets today's requirements for energy-efficient construction and modern learning: a gas engine heat pump, photovoltaic system, underfloor heating, LED lighting, full-surface networking and digital boards were installed.

District Administrator Martin Stichnoth, together with Headmistress Petra Gerloff, numerous well-wishers and the students, was delighted about the great opportunity to start the new school year in the ultra-modern premises: "With the school complex 'Am Diesterwegring', we have been able to create a modern learning environment in which knowledge can be acquired and ideas developed and dreams for the future can grow," said Martin Stichnoth in his speech. "I hope that the school with all your offers and opportunities will be cherished and that the students will also appreciate the use of their parents' tax money."

The ceremonial handover of the building was accompanied by a colorful program performed by students from the elementary school and the community school. After the official handover, interested citizens, residents and parents also had the opportunity to visit the school complex.

The construction project was financed by the STARK III funding program, a program within the framework of ERDF. The district of Börde, as the responsible body for the secondary schools, received a grant of approximately 1.8 million euros for the general and energy-related renovation of the old building. A further 6.5 million euros for renovation and new construction were financed from the Börde district's own funds.
