Volunteer Gala of the Börde County: An evening of recognition and inspiration

Volunteering is the foundation on which many great ideas and projects are born. In the Börde district, it is also the invisible glue that holds our society together and creates bridges between different people and walks of life. Volunteers are involved in a wide variety of areas: whether as coaches in sports clubs, as conservationists or as dedicated preservers of tradition. They provide support for the elderly, the sick and the needy, assist with aid organizations, in groups for seniors or the disabled, in rescue services or in the volunteer fire department. In the leisure sector, they make a significant contribution to cultural diversity. It is impossible to imagine our society without people who do voluntary work.

By hosting the first honorary gala of the Börde district, District Administrator Martin Stichnoth has made it his task to honor this voluntary work and express his gratitude. "The citizens who are unselfishly committed in our district are not only the social backbone of our coexistence, but also the cultural heart and moral conscience of our society," emphasizes District Administrator Martin Stichnoth. "These people serve as role models, even if they often want to remain in the background out of modesty. At our Volunteer Gala, we would like to take the opportunity to bring them to the forefront and say thank you."

A total of 27 volunteers in the categories "Social", "Nature and Environment/Home Care and Culture", "Firefighters and Civil Defense", "Sports" and "Special Commitment" were honored, one of each category with the honorary pin of the Börde County.

With the honorary pin of the administrative district Börde were distinguished:

Mrs. Marlies Schünemann - Category "Social".

Mr. Wolfgang Faasen - Category "Nature and Environment/Home Care and Culture".

Mr. Ottmar Kunze - category "Fire brigade and civil defense

Mrs. Anke Pfeiffer - Category "Sports

Mr. Peter Loskarn - Category "Special Commitment

The selection was made with the help of a jury consisting of representatives of parliamentary groups of the district council. Mrs. Kerstin Frenzel, Mrs. Astrid Jung-Beckermann, Mr. Franz Ulrich Keindorff, Mr. Maik Steffens, Mrs. Gudrun Tiedge, Mr. Wolfgang Zahn and Mr. Bodo Zeymer participated.

The award of the district can not nearly outweigh the many hours that volunteers have contributed to your dedicated work, for our society on a social, health, cultural or sports level. Nevertheless, the award is intended as recognition for the services rendered.
