The award ceremony took place on October 24, 2023, on the occasion of the Germany-wide Library Day in Wanzleben-Börde. The prize, endowed with 5,000 euros, is donated by the four Saxony-Anhalt Chambers of Industry and Commerce and Chambers of Crafts.
"With this prize, the jury honors the idea of a mobile Makerspace "MakerThek Börde - Mobile from place to place". This provides children, schoolchildren and young people with mobile and stationary access to modern production processes and equipment. They learn about 3D printers, robotics, CNC milling machines, cutting plotters, but also conventional handicraft tools. The project makes a supportive contribution to arousing interest in (or training for) a later profession," said Klaus Olbricht, President of the Magdeburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and André Rummel, Chief Executive Officer, who presented the award on behalf of all four chambers of commerce.
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Petra Grimm-Benne, was on hand as guest of honor.
