As chief fire inspector, Schumann now holds the highest rank available in the volunteer fire departments of Saxony-Anhalt. It corresponds to the function of the district fire chief.
In the district Börde the circle fire master stands as honorary officials with its two section leaders the 157 Freiwilligen fire-brigades, behind it approximately 7,000 members, before. Schumann: "This promotion is for me obligation and challenge at the same time. I will continue to help ensure that fire and disaster protection in the Börde district remains at a very high level. I am very happy to pass on this message to all fire departments and to all comrades in the Börde district."
District Administrator Martin Stichnoth also knows what he has in his district fire chief. "It is the uncomplicated communication with me and with the offices within the district administration. And it's the fair dealings with all volunteers, geared toward the goal of helping people in need. In other words, acting at eye level. Thank you for that and congratulations on the promotion."
Since April 2019, comrade Matthias Schumann (born 72) has been in charge as district fire chief. In this role, he is responsible for enforcing the tasks of defensive fire protection and assistance incumbent on the Börde district. Schumann is an "association leader" and thus holds the highest level of qualification in the field of volunteer fire departments.
