The Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide is a heathland in the transition area of the regions Altmark and Elbe-Börde-Heide in Saxony-Anhalt, north of Magdeburg, which belongs to the Southern Land Ridge. The area is part of the main natural unit group Wendland and Altmark.
The Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide - the largest contiguous heath area in Central Europe - extends from the Altmark in the north to the Ohre and Mittellandkanal in the south near the state capital Magdeburg. The towns and municipalities of Gardelegen, Uchtspringe, Tangerhütte, Wolmirstedt, Haldensleben and Calvörde lie on the edge of the heath, while the namesake villages of Colbitz and Letzlingen lie within the area. The Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide is the largest non-agricultural open area in Germany. The highest elevation is the Zackelberg at 139.4 meters above sea level.
